Do you have a particular reason for choosing Sogod ?
It is a town with basic shops and services for the local people.
To me, it has no real attractions for foreigners.
Yes, it is a safe town, with very hospitable people.
I have been visiting the Sogod area for the past 10 years, due to my wife coming from there.

Mule Chaser

Yes,  actually im going there to meet a lady i have been talking to online for quit a while.

Bert46

well fine if you like to visit us we live about 4 kilometers from sogod at plase called curva dagsa  my partener is well known around sogod we have a farm resort here still under construction

AussiePete2

I having a lady friend there,  you will see Sogod in a different light to that of a foreigner just visiting.
The people are wonderful.  Hopefully you will be well received.
Definately make contact with Bert and his partner in Dagsa...., they are great people.
We have just returned from the area.

Hi Bert,
Thanks for adding me. I would like to retire in Baybay. My partner comes from there. I’m taking 2 years to tidy up in Sydney before moving. I have only spent 4 days in baybay, but felt at home there.
       Cheers, Les

Mule Chaser

Thank you.  I will look them up for sure.

bert here/ so it is a big move from sydney to so leyte i done it 7+ years ago i used to live in far north qld i dont miss aussie at all  thing are improving slowy  in the phils  some frustration here some pinay have little common sense a lot of constructors are dead set scammers  so boots on we do most of our construction and design our selves

Aussie Les

Hi Bert,
Hope to buy property and put the title in my children’s name as they where born in the phils. I would keep the title.
My budget, would be about 2 million.
I’m looking at the small 2 bed townhouse in Ormoc.
What do u suggest buy a small lot and build on that ? Or go for a small place in a gated community.
     Cheers, Les

Bert46

depend on your age i live where i live because of the local environment i dont know about ormoc i have only been there once 1 time   to me i would invest in land about 20 to 30 minutes travel from ormoc in a rural area  are you talking au dollar or ph peso you are looking to invest

giovannigio

for me it isn't a good idea to buy lot in name of children

Aussie Les

Bert,
I’m looking at 50000aud, not a lot of money, I agree. I have already been scammed out of one property in pampagna.
My partner is close to baybay, which is rural, compared to Ormoc. I guess lots there would be cheaper.
Cheers, Les

Aussie Les

Why is that ?  We all have been told a hundred times that foreigners cannot own land in the Philippines.
I would rather put it in my children’s names as they where born in the Philippines, than my Pinoy partner. I think it is important to hold the title yourself in a secure place.

Hi everyone, I'm late on this forum here in 2022, downsizing and selling upi here in Qld Australia, my Pinay girlfriend lives in Sogod and I'm interested in how Expats are doing there.

I'm open minded and adaptable but want to enjoy a comfortable retirement in Phils partnered up with my lovely Pinay, have debts, live a quite lifestyle and on the top rung Army Veterans TIP pension and benefits.

Any up to date advise is appreciate.

Hi! I'm happy to read your conversation, marrying a Filipina is Great. One thing I can say is almost all of the Filipinas are Clingy. 🤣 If you want her to treat you a King, you must treat her like a Baby. 🤣, But be careful of some who will take advantage of you, it's not just here in the Philippines, any part of the Globe have people who will take advantage of what you have, by the way I'm from Sogod, if you want a life that is Laid back, away from Toxic environment, Sogod is one of the best Choice.
