Hi everyone,
I just new registered here, and I need some advise about my case.
I came from Indonesian, just married October 12, 2018 with Norwegian citizen.
I used tourist visa while I get married in Norway.
Now, I have to go back to Indonesia as my tourist visa ended. My plan now, I will apply for family permit with my spouse/registered partner, but I want to bring 2 of my kids also from my previous relationship.
I taked a look at UDI Website, but few things that I’m still not sure about their explanation.
1. Is it possible to apply family permit also for my kids,  as I still don’t have residence permit in Norway.
2. If possible, is it application for my kids will be in separate application, that means I will submit 3 application to UDI, one for me and two for my kids.
3. Which option at UDI Website, I have to choose for application of my kids.
I hope, anyone that know about my case, can give me some advise.
Thank you.
Rgds,
Amei
Congratulations for your married, I was marriage in the same day as you with visitors visa.
Iam from Thailand about your question you can do applicants for a family visa in the same time for your kids. But I think you can find exactly answer from UDI websites
I was application for a family visa on 3-12-18 from Thailand and on 5-12-18 UDI send me a mail that they're accepted my documents.
Standard time processing for Thai citizen is take a normally around 3 months.
I hopefully I will get a granted soon. And for you too
Hi,
Congratulation for your married too.
Yes, I applied for family visa on December 14, 2018 and got email from UDI on December 19, 2018 that they received my application.
It said on their website, processing time for Indonesian citizen normally around 3 months.
It should be, we will get an update about our application every month.
I hope that both of us will granted for this family permit very soon.
Just keep inform each other about next news that we will get.
Nice to know you.

Hi how are you
I applied on 3 Dec '18 ,the UDI received my documents on 5 Dec '18. Normally waiting time for Thai people is 3 months processing too. I just received mail from UDI on 4 Jan '19 that's my case still waiting to be processed. Hope we're both get a good news in as soon as possible. I understand how a waiting person's feels.
Hi,
I'm good here and hope for you too.
It's good to heard that you got next email from UDI, I still not get any next email from them, maybe because you applied earlier than me.
I hope that both of us will granted very soon for this permit.
So, now the time just to wait and be patient for that.
Absolutely, we are can only be patients
Some cases in Thailand got early granted a permit. Started at 7 days to 25 days. I hopefully I will have some lucky like that too. But every cases are different. Now it one month anniversary but I am still waiting 🤞🤞🤞ðŸ€

Hi Amei,
Regarding your question about applying with your kids the answer is yes you can apply with them altogether. And yes apply for 3 as they will require each applicants to have their own account in the system. So you have to submit 3 applications/documents in the embassy after. 3rd is you all apply for family immigration/reunification.
I'm not sure about parenting rights in your country but I hope you are taking notes to some rules on your country if you are going to take your kids with you. For example on my situation since my kids's father is a filipino and still alive, also signed the birthcertificates of my kids then I have to ask his permission and sign the documents stating he allows my kids to live with me abroad.
Keep in mind to always ask someone who knows or experienced the same so you will be so ready when you applied. Do your homework, research and ask various people before stepping to application and of course complete all the papers that's needed.
Waiting time differs from country to country so I cannot answer to that.
Hello,
Yes, right...just be patient, there’s only we can do now, and think positive always.
I still don’t get any next news from UDI.
As you’ve been waiting for one month already, if everything as their required, I’m sure that you will get good result at the end, and hopefully not take too long for us will be granted for this permit.
😊😊😊
Hi Cassey,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, that means I have to apply for 3 separate application with my kids.
Finally, I applied for myself first on December 14, 2018 as I need to wait school for my kids will be finish around middle of this year, to go to next grade, so I think while I will register school for them in Norway everything more clear about their school.
But I still ned to check, is it possible if later I apply for my kids application while I already in Norway, for this thing, I still need to try to find out.
Anyway, I hope, I can get this permit very soon, as now I’ve been waiting for one month, but no next news from UDI, since they sent me email that they received my application.
Just wonder how it’s gonna be at the end.

Since you lrady have applied for yourself I suggest you apply for your ids too while you are waiting for your answer from UDI. It is easier to apply while you're still there in your country. Also you don't need to register your kids in Norway school because all you have to do is to go to school here and tell them that you have kids to study and they will accept them immediately. They won't ask for kids school papers from your country because it's not needed here.
Based on my experience I applied all together with my kids so altogether had been approved so it's easier because we all fly together without me leaving my kids behind.
Hi Cassey,
Thanks for your information, about school for the kids.
For sure, that I’m gonna prepare everything first for my kids before they come to Norway.
And I have a plan also to have a work in Norway before I bring my kids, so at least everything more stable for financial matter, because my husband just have an ordinary job, thinking about living cost in Norway so high, so I think it’s better for me to have a job as I used to work also in Jakarta.
When I’ve got an answer from UDI about my permit, I will try to find out also, is it possible to apply permit for my kids, while I’m in Norway, if can’t, so can be I will apply before I fly, if UDI granted my permit.
I read also, for kids permit, takes time around 5 months, so during that time at least I can work for a while in Norway.
I still wait for any news from UDI, and it’s coming for 2 months, just hope will get a good news.
Once again, thanks for all of your advice

Hi MrsJ1986,
How are you ?
How is your permit ?
Just want to inform you, after 3 emails that I've got from UDI, finally for the fourth email from UDI, today on February 26, 2019, I have been granted for the permit.
So, it's around 9 weeks since I submitted the document, until I've got my permit.
Now, it's waiting time until I've got Entry Visa (D Visa) from Norway Embassy, Jakarta.
I hope that you've been granted also for your permit.
See you again

Hi Mariawes,
Sorry late to reply, because I’m in Norway now, there are so many things to do here, not really check email.
For my case, finally I applied for myself first, because my kids in Jakarta still in the middle of school, so I wait until they completed their school first to the next grade.
And I’m willing also to work first here, as I used to work also in Jakarta, around August or September I will going back to Jakarta to submitt document for my kids.
About DNA test, we don’t need to do first just submitt doc as a normal process, for my country it will takes 6 months.
But if in the middle of process, they ask you to do DNA test for your son, that’s the time you need to do that test.
Every case is different, it depends on the situation, can be they will ask also for interview.
But in the beginning, just submitt all the document as they require through normal process.
Don’t think too much worry about that.
I wish you luck.
Rgrds,
Nancy
Ok nancy.. thank you so much.. have a nice time..

Hi Mariawes,
You’re welcome.
Wish you the best for your case.

Hi, as far as I know you cannot process any visa applications while you're on a tourist visa in Norway. They will require you to go back to your home country and apply there. As for the waiting time it depends on the situation, as long as you meet all the requirements they asked when you passed it then all you have to do is to wait.
In my case it only took me 2 weeks to be approved altogether with my kids, others took months and sometimes a year. It depends on the scenario, either you lack some papers they asked or your spouse have issues here in Norway.
Okay thank you for the information..
