well there is lots to do in riyadh ..you just need the right company to enjoy .. there are theme parks, parties, events of a wide variety, and yes.. there is the desert if you fancy that..

if all else fails.. there is always an open invitation to all blog members for a movie at my place on weekends and on week nights if you can manage that early in the evening ..

this kind of questions always brings smile to my face :p its a common complaint from all newbies here. but dont worry dear, best solution is try to get yourself busy in different activities/games and you will definitely feel better

With all of these interests, I can't seem to relate to your other hobbies which you mentioned in your post.

You can play golf (search in this forum and you will find golf partners), you have plenty of people on this forum to motivate, so help them, reading and writing... wow this is something which should never make a person idle...

Still you question being idle?

hey there, well there's a lot to do here. mostly on weekends.  depending on what your interests. i can hook you up with public and private events only. maybe parties once in a blue moon. other then that the pleasure island of bahrain is always open.

Thanks all for replying. I guess more so my feeling is b/c I haven't been working during this time and b/c I'm new to the area and didn't know what to do or where things were. However, since I've posted, I have received a little help and generosity in that area.

However, to be more specific, I am interested in golf (which I got some info about from other members), games (like boardgames, chess, checkers, etc.). I'm also interested in learning about the history and other relevant things about the culture and life here (including the desert) which I would like to write about. I'm hoping to get some pictures in too. Also things like poetry and art are of interest to me.

there is  a museum here in riyadh according to my friend. That must be interesting for you..
ill ask my friend where it is located...

many things can be done here ... but the only thing i complain is; for everything u hav to alot of money ... bit expensive for average earning guy like me ... but no doubt Riyadh does offer everything.... best of luck for that

@ Seeker of Truth: That's great! I would definitely LOVE to go to a museum. You're right. It that is of much interest to me

@ GinSkipper: I really like chess. I haven't played in a while either but would love to play sometime. Online is a good idea. At the moment, I don't have the greatest Internet access, though due to my present accommodations, but hopefully, that will be changing soon.
