Tax returns

Post new topic

Hi

I’ve been living and working in Copenhagen for one year, and I would like to know what the formal tax return process is? I am employed, and my tax is deducted at source, so I would like to know what I have to do for my annual tax return.

Regards

You shall do absolutely nothing. Medio March you'll receive a message from SKAT that your final settlement is ready.

If you have paid too much tax, you'll receive your receivable from medio April.

Hi Rob,

As Nellie said, most things are done automatically. Everything that happens financially here in Denmark, and is registered under your CPR will be taken into account.

There are certain cases though, where you might want to report extra things manually. Especially if you also have financial activity in other countries, or if you donated money to organisations (those are tax-deductible) without indicating your CPR number.

You will receive an email or message in your e-boks in March, where you can look at the preliminary tax statement and then change it if you wish to.
See here:

Warm regards,
Franziska

Many thanks for both your replies.

Hi Nellie,

I have a more complex SKAT requirement due to property sales income, and for added complexity, changed residency status. As a result I'll need some specialist advice on what tax is payable to which country during the 2018 cycle.

Would you perhaps know of any companies / persons that would supply such guidance?

I do believe SKAT provides the capability for formal appointments on advanced tax topics, but not sure it would span borders?

Thanks & Regards

I would go to the International Citizen Centre for advice. Maybe, this will be enough.

Unfortunately, the guide is in Danish why I am not sure if you can profit from it?

Else you need an accountant (revisor) with experience within international income. Cannot your HR help you in this issue? Perhaps the company's own accountant.

If you don't get the necessary help, do return to this site.
