Tax for no-residents in Turkey

Post new topic

bachir123

Hi,

I am living in Lebanon and I would like to open an account in Turkey because banks in Lebanon could go to bankrupt.

My question is : why do I need to have a tax number in TurKey if I am not living nor working in TurKey ? Does this tax number means that  I must pay tax on the money entering in my bank account even if I am not resident in Turkey?

Thanks

Borraro

it is difficult for banks to question the authenticity of foreign identifications or passports. tax office will do this on behalf and so individuals can be examined to prevent illegal transactions or avoid tax evasions.
there is no relation between having tax number and being tax payer. you are not obliged for the money unless it is commercial income, no matter you are resident or not.
i m not sure, but i think you need a valid address in turkey in any case to be able to get tax number. they often change the regulations to harmonise with adjustment laws.

Hi Borraro ,
Normally we pay income tax in the country where we are resident. It is Lebanon in my case.

My ecommerce business is using a company in Ireland. After paying taxes on the company revenue in Ireland, this company will pay to me dividends as individual. I'll declare and pay tax on these dividends in the country where I am living, this means in Lebanon, even if the money will arrive to my account in a bank in Turkey.

This is a very important point because I don't want to pay twice for my dividends income.

i meant commercial or rental income within turkish boundaries. does yr business have service in turkey? even if not, it will still take attention if it comes from a legal entity.
why dont you have a bank account in ireland then? yet, what's your deal?

I have several actvities. I provide IT services for european companies and I am selling gifts online in Europ.  I don't have business with Turkey.

I must be resident in Ireland to be able to open an account there. It is not easy, maybe impossible, to become resident in Ireland with a lebanese passport.

Before the problems in Lebanon, I had bank accounts in my country. Now I need to open an account somewhere in this world so that dividends can come to this account. But I don't want to pay taxes in this country. I am already paying taxes in Lebanon where I am living.

There are tens of "tax heaven" countries you can select before Turkey.
Or, why not an offshore account?

Not so easy with a lebanese passport. I tried for example Panama but they said that Lebanon does not belong to freindly countries so it will be complicated.

I also asked in Cyprus ... must be resident.

I'll be happy If you have any suggestion.

you need a Turkish resident visa, Turkish tax number, a utility bill as a proof of address in Turkey and a passport to open a bank account in Turkey. Period.
