holiday certificate

Post new topic

Hi,

I was dismissed last year and got a holiday certificate. Then I had unemployment benefits later for few months... Recently I started a new job. Does anybody knows,... is my new employer will paid me(or asked my previous employer to pay) or even recognize the holidays left indicated in my holiday certificate, or my unemployment period during which has used up the holidays already?

Also, it seems I have lots issues with this new employer, anybody suggested me to inquire someone familiar HR laws? (I am currently not in a union, and due to COVID i am not sure if their juridic assistance is available or maybe too occupied(?)...)

Thanks in advance.

Hey

The first year that you start working, you don't have paid holidays.
Because you didn't contribute yet.
The number of paid holiday depends on how many months you did work on the previous one.

You should have already given your holiday certificate to your current HR, and they'll tell you how many paid day-off you have this year.

Hi,

Thanks for reply, i have been working for many years, so i did work for a whole year last year, and should be entitled for holidays this year. But when I recently joined the new company and submitted the holiday certificate... the new company never let me know how many holidays i can have (they kept finding excuses like they are contacting the social secretary and not confirming yet etc even after one month)...

Check on your payslips... It should be written on it (at least most of the social secretariats are doing it: securex & co)
If you've been working a completely year, then you should have the number written on your work contract (that depend if you do a 38h/month or 40h/month)

Depending if you're employee and on which CP you are, it should be 20 days off (+12 if 40h/month)

Thanks for reply, I know I usually ask HR, but this new company HR never responds me directly regarding my questions, so I have to ask here. I only worked one month in this new company and dismissed, and I saw i have around 3 day vacation pay in the payslip.

I am just wondering if the 3-day vacation pay is coming from the new company given me for the year 2020, or it's actually coming from my previous employer indicated in the vacation attest year 2019 or even 2020. (As I have 3 days holiday left in 2019 from previous company, and I heard it could be used when I work in a new company in 2020... so I am not sure if the 3-day i got is from new company or is actually from previous company)

Hi all,

I moved from US to Belgium and I am not familiar with a vacation certificate. I started working full time in March but only now has my HR requested a vacation certificate.>>>>What exactly is the equivalent to a vacation certificate in the US?

Ive been asked to get one from my previous employer but have no idea even how to ask for this. In the states depending on comapany policy : it can be if you dont use it then you lose it.

Thanks in advance.
