Rejected to get UK standard visitor visa

Ramiar Jamal

Hello expats,

I am from Iraqi Kurdistan, I stayed in Europe for four academic years for study purposes and been given UK visitor visa for two times, visited England for a number of times. The applications I made to the country were from Paris and Rome but this time as I made it from Iraq, I got rejected. They indicated they rejected it for financial reasons, while I gave all the financial statements and my employment letter. I was given the visa while I was in Europe at a time that I was only  a student.
In your experience and view, why do you think they rejected it? Does it have o do with Brexit? A right wing government or my residence now in Iraq? Thanks all!

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

From what you've said, I can only assume that you failed at the eligibility stage of your application and did not meet the financial requirements for a UK visitor visa.  So, whatever you showed them wasn't enough.

As for your questions:

Brexit - no, national emigration or immigration of non-EU citizens is nothing to do with the EU, never has been.
Right-Wing Government - no; the UK has had similar requirements for many years.
Iraq - No, Iraqi citizens can apply for short-term visas to come and visit the UK.

Hope this helps.

Dear Cynic,

Thank you for your kind responses,

How about the past when I applied for UK visa as a student in Europe? I did not even have a job this time but they always gave me!

Hi again.

Students have different criteria to meet; they probably give more value to a student leaving to return to his/her studies, than to a qualified person who has nothing to lose if he/she stays illegally.
