Hello,

I am portuguese but have lived in South Africa all my life.  We are thinking of retiring in Portugal but would need a job to keep us going for a while since we might not be able to take our pensions with us right away.  We were thinking of the North of Portugal - apparently Braga has the most moderate climate.
we are hoping to purchase a property and a vehicle any advice?

Regards,
Lena

Hello Boerpot,

Welcome to ½ûÂþÌìÌà

Please note that I have created a new thread with your post for more visibility on the Portugal forum.

In what field do you work?

Would you prefer to purchase a house or a flat? Do you have an idea yet?

I recommend you to read the Living in Portugal guide as there are several interesting articles that will help you to make your expat project a success.  ;)

Cheers,

Cheryl

Hi,
Here's a site or two with a large selection of small ads for cars and houses for sale - obviously in Portuguese -  but searchable so you can narrow it down a bit from the thousands and thousands of ads.  Work is difficult to find as (ignoring covid) it's a poorish country and comparatively low wages so a lot of people have migrated elsewhere in the EU for work.

Good luck.

Hi,
A Cuban expatriate in Spain, giving his opinion on Portugal.... welcome to globalisation...

I could also speak here with knowledge about Cuba and Spain, but neither you would be interested in my opinion, nor your opinion interests to me or anyone else who really wants to know more about Portugal. Have a nice day ;)

In case you are determined to buy in Braga I wish you the best, however, the further south you go the better the weather is, specially in the winter. In case you look for a property in the silver coast feel free to contact me. I have a relative who is interested in selling.
