I have my D7 visa and am registered with my. Numero de utente, but want to purchase additional private insurance. Can anyone recommend a company?

Hi LorieAnneC,

If you are over 60/65, I suggest MGEN insurance.

(Need translation)

There is a insurance health policy on the portuguese market that has no age limit or exclusions and the insurer cannot put an end to the contract. It has special characteristics because it is marketed by a French MGEN insurance company. In other cases, it is only possible to take out health insurance up to the age of 60 or 65. In addition, when the person turns 70, they are normally automatically excluded from insurance coverage. Unless you have taken out the health policy before the age of 45, but as the contracts are annual, there is nothing to prevent the insurer from refusing renewal at the end of the year.

MGEN insurance is associated with the private AdvanceCare network.

If you are under 60/65 years of age, please see this link:

Thank you for the information. As my understanding of Portuguese is limited, I’m wondering if there is anyone who can help me navigate their the MGen website.. I would like to be as thorough as possible. Or, any other suggestions?? â¤ï¸ðŸ™

Hi.

It looks like there may be a direct link to MGEN Health insurance with translation here.
I am interested too .
Presently 64 years if age, I have some basic health insurance with Agricola Bank but need something a bit more comprehensive.

Thanks... I’ll be 60 in April and just want to increase coverage.

You can subscribe online here:

Click on the button "ADERIR AGORA"

Titular= Your name/your date of birth
Agregado familiar=date of birth's members of your family who are also covered by this insurance. If you go alone, leave it blank.

Conjuge / Spouse
Filhos / Sons
Outros / other family members, father/mother,...

Choose the health plan you want, depending on the options you want to be covered, and do the simulation to see the price/month.

Suggestion:
If you like to be contacted (perhaps it would be preferable), after simulation, click on the button "contactem-me/contact me" at the bottom of that page. Then write your email and phone number there, and in the "Mensagem" field write that you want to be contacted in English.

All great info, Thanks.
These costs are way below others I have been quoted from Cigna etc which I requested immediately.
I guess the cover isn't in any way as comprehensive but can always decide on basic, take time to review and upgrade at a later date.
Even easier to go straight to their website and choose English option.
The Simulation is so easy and quick - completed and left my contact details.
As I am 64.5 years at moment, I suspect the 65 and over option is best for me to choose, would you agree?
Thanks again.

Hi, JohnnyPT - I am in the process of getting my Golden Visa, and have just finalized the purchase of our home in Carvoeiro. I was looking at Allianz are you familular with this company? I am 57, and my partner is 70 but he already has worldwide insurance. I have been talking with a man Miguel Salvador from Target Seguros who recommends Allianz. are you familular, and can you recommend it?
Thanks in advance!
Janice

SimCityAT

is the worlds largest insurance company and is well known. The people that I know use it have had no issues with it.

Thank you for your reply!  I have decided to sign up with Allianz, it seems easy to get and frankly the cost is about a 5th what I pay in the US.
Do you know if Blue Cross/ Blue Shield are global? That’s what my partner has. I just want to make sure he is correct that he will also be covered.

Gratefully,
Janice
