@jhgoodwin Can you pay USD for tolls, or should I get pesos?

Pesos

No pesos only!

Stuck behind some fresh tourists at the Las Terrenas toll one day.  They were trying to pay the $460 (I think, maybe it was $500??) toll with a $100 US bill.  It was all they had.  And we all waited for 10 minutes while staff tried to find enough change.  Couldn't just let them through, oh no...1f644.svg

Yes you can, US dollar is loved here and accepted everywhere.

I never used that road but I often drive through tolls between Punta Cana and Santo Domingo.  USD is accepted at tolls.  They love USD!

I bet it's the exchange rate they love !

Many businesses in tourist/expat areas do, but I’ve never tried at tolls. I recommend you find a Cambio storefront anywhere and get some local currency.

@queenamandap123 We drive from SDQ up to Cabrera all the time. Straight up the 7 (toll road) We have always paid with pesos. You can exchange money before driving. going north it's 60 pesos, then 200, then another 200?? Maybe first one is 100? (it seems to have stabilized rexently. I drive it at all times of the day, never had an issue... but don't speed!

We prefer Caribe Tour bus though... costs less than the tolls 😉

60 - 200- 200 are the tolls from south to north
