Where to buy ATV/Side by Side in Las Terrenas - new and used

Post new topic

Hello, we are looking to find out about pricing for new and used ATVs and side by sides in Las Terrenas area.  We are thinking of opting for this instead of bringing my car.
Also, can these be driven only on small roads.  Are their certain road/highway restrictions?
Thank you

That makes perfect sense for Las Terrenas. You will find that both are more expensive here due to import taxes and to register to make it road legal is probably more expensive than you are used to. Most people do not register theirs in Las Terrenas however. If you are buying a used one, be careful. I would be patient and wait for the right one to come along. Maybe from a expat who is moving and can provide to accurate history on the vehicle. Also, you will find that you can purchase either in Santo Domingo cheaper. I bought a almosf new Canam Maverick in Santo Domingo for not much more than I would have had to pay in the US, but it took about 4 months to find this good one. There are a few very reputable dealers in Santo Domingo that I would recommend speaking with. They will deliver to LT. There are a lot of fun trails around LT and all over the North Coast. I typically have to travel from my house to the trails on paved roads and have never been bothered by the traffic police. Not properly licensing the vehcile could be a issue if you are involved in a accident. You will also be more likely to be bothered by police outside of LT. It has never happened to me however. I would also purchase a make and model whose parts are readily avaliable here.

Thank you Mkunz6580.  Good information :-)

These noisy things are driven literally everywhere in Las Terrenas, so no worries there.

There is Richard Motors and Dominguez Motors in LT. Dominguez has more selection and better after purchase support from what I understand. Once you purchase you generally have to hound them for the proper registration.

Also, adding to what Mkunz6580 says above the Yamaha's are more expensive but better quality and parts are available. I think they sell Yamaha Grizzlie's in town. Also please be careful on them. We just had someone die just outside of town due to excessive speed and roll over on a major road.

Last year, they started announcing that ATVs and side-by-sides could only be driven in town, so heading out of Las Terrenas wasn't allowed. I do not know if they were enforcing it.

One thing to consider is that both types of vehicles are not good in the rain! We've had periods where there were on and off showers for the better part of a week, so getting to the grocery store or anywhere you needed to go would be a pain!

If you are planning to be in the hills at all, you'll want to make sure you've got enough power to get up them, and the right kind of tires for gravel/dirt roads.

we were looking into the same thing.Good luck finding a new atv in the DR .its the same here in Canada. The US had a record sales last year and manufacturing couldnt keep up so dealers here in canada can't get them and I've called about 6 places around the DR and no luck.If you already own some atvs I would suggest shipping and from Canada its 400 each to ship but without residency card duty and taxes will be added in order to pick them up

Thank you all for the great advice.  Might just be worth it to ship our car instead.

Yes, we've done a lot of business with them. So far, so good. Speak to Christian. He is fluent in multiple languages.

@Mkunz6580 how much did you pay for the ATV.

Hi, would you know what brand would be the best to buy so I can ensure I can get service & parts in Las Terrenas?
