Should I come?

Post new topic

Hello All,

Can anyone give be me an on the ground view of what is going in Bangkok and Thailand as a whole?  I am suppose to fly there soon but not sure I want to come if it’s just doom and gloom.  I realize it’s not going to crazy times for awhile due to the recent outbreak, but is it like a ghost town?

I watch The Theigher and FM103 on YouTube daily, but can’t get a sense of how bad it is?  Can anyone give me any update?  I had C-19 last year, have been tested for the Anti-bodies which I have, and have been vaccinated.  So I am not as worried about catching it if I do all the right things, but if it’s a ghost town not sure I want to come.  And yes I have my COE as well…smile

Thanks in advance and please only positive and relative comments.

If you come here for travel, it may not be the right time because all places are closed deal to covid third wave.

It depends on what you want to do. If you want to party I would say stay away. There is none of that going on now. Bangkok is the worst due to the seafood factories using foreign labor from SE Asia. They all got major outbreaks centered in Samut Sakorn where the factories are located.

The clubbing scene has also been closed due to a recent outbreak of partiers and clubbers in Thong Lo (upscale clubbing and well, you know...).  As a result 1/3 of all politicians in Thai govt have covid-19 (I guess we know what they do with Thai tax payers money).

If you are coming to relax and drink and eat out there are some places for that, but it is quiet and relaxed, which I like. I can go out drinking and dining out in peace and quiet without crowds or long lines, so that is nice. I'm not about to tell you where this is because I don't want the influx of partiers here. However, drinking and dining outside with a sunset going on with wifey and her family is nice. Although, some places are BYOB as they are not allowed to serve alcohol so they allow you to bring your own. I usually take 6 bottles of Leo or Singha or 1 bottle of Chivas Regal 18 and they provide all the mixers. Good evening out for us.

Forget Bangkok. It's under lockdown for a month which started June 28. You just need to read The Nation or Bangkok Post online. Forget The Thaiger, it's just articles from other news websites online.
