Spaniards are generally amicable and generous people. But services (e.g. at restaurants, bars, shops, etc.) I have experienced ranges from 'nothing special' to 'miserable'.

People are usually very friendly and hospitable. Occasionally someone does something unlikeable like just this morning; a shop tenant who (with a smile and a flourish) sold me the most ugly bell pepper they had instead of giving me a decent one. But these things happen in all countries. I had that kind of situation happen to me in quite a few places. Those who do this are just poor ignorant people who have never been abroad and think it's cool to disadvantage foreigners.

I didn't complain, but next time I'll pick my own bell pepper, ha ha! ;-p
