Approved skilled worker permit, unable to travel from US?

Post new topic

Is anyone else in my situation? I got a positive decision from UDI on my skilled worker residence permit (received this week, applied ~15 weeks ago). But I believe I can't currently travel to Norway because of closed borders?

My work is ready for me to start. I'm worried if I buy a ticket now they will turn me back at the border. This is so frustrating. I'm fully vaccinated. Am I reading this correctly? Anyone else in my situation, and were you able to travel?

Thank you so much for any advice/help.

Hi, I did came to Norway week ago. I came from “green” country and on airport there was no control at all. For others they had to be tested for COVID  right after landing. And honestly here no one cares much ab corona. So I believe as far as you’ll be negative or travel from green country you shou be fine.

Thanks, but the US isn't a green country (or even on the list) so I don't think that applies to me. You mean no one checked anything? You still had to go through customs? I believe that is where I would be turned back.

Well I took ma baggage from belt then the airport stuff pointed me to a line where ppl were waiting for testing( basically everyone who just landed). I told to lady I have green pass (COVID vaccination certificate) but she told me it doesn’t matter. Then later another lady told us  who is from my plane can bypass the testing. And then I just left the airport, no one even checked my passport 😅. I was glad because I was hurry for my train.

I think you’ll be tested for COVID. After that if negative they will let you in. My colleagues who came like two or three months earlier (no vaccinated) by car they had to go to carantena for three days in hotel. Best six months earlier they wasn’t allowed enter country, because they didn’t have Norwegian D number. There is application form which needs to be filled ( I hadn’t do it because I’m vaccinated) before coming in. But I’m not sure if it’s all or only EU citizens.
So I believe they will let you in, but you may go to carantena for a while. Recently they are open for ppl.
