Willing to help Ukrainian refugees in Aberdeen

Post new topic

juliefw1964

I am not Ukrainian so I hope I won't offend anyone by posting on this forum. I am an English retired teacher who has recently moved to a village near Montrose. The reason I am on here is because I have heard about the government scheme to offer spare rooms to refugees from Ukraine and I have a spare room that I would be willing to offer. So, what I am doing here is asking if there might be support from within the Ukrainian community in Aberdeen, firstly to put me in touch with someone who I could help in this way and secondly to support them once they are settled here.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

The formal UK announcement will be made tomorrow and I suspect that things will roll on at a pace from there.  A quick check on the Internet tells me that there are Facebook groups () that may help you find who/what you are looking for.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the link. I'm not on Facebook myself so having the link posted here is helpful.

Hi again.

Then my advice is to be careful; the Internet shares all the good and bad of the society it exists in.  You'd be surprised at how many people would try and take advantage of your goodwill for nefarious reasons.

Take care.

Tbh, that's why I came to this group. I'd rather work with people already in the community.

Hi again.

I will highlight this thread to the Administrators so they are aware you are asking and perhaps put you in contact with like-minded people.
