You might check you can get your driver's license converted to Philippines, but before you had to have permanent resident, don't know if still true LTO can tell you

I just transferred my drivers license from US to Philippines.  All I needed was valid drivers license, ACR card and Passport showing visa valid for a minimum of 160 days from date of entry.

You also must have proper attire, no shorts/sandals/tank tops. Doctors exam available within walking distance. Not much of an Doctors exam: eye test, blood pressure, stethoscope to hear if your heart is still beating all for a small fee.

Yeah, the doctors "exam" was a joke.  It mostly consisted of an eye examine to see if you need glasses for driving.  I don't remember the blood pressure or heart test.

I was sitting close to the eye chart while waiting for my turn. I memorized the last line. I didn't need to do that because my vision without glasses is 20/15. While he was taking my blood pressure I repeated the last line to him.

I had cataract surgery here in the Philippines about three years ago $2200. Before the surgery I was blind as a bat.

I can't speak to the if your visa will permit it but one definitely can, I have one, a simple process by PH standards. Get the police to clear your background for offenses and then apply. Takes a while to get the actual license but they give you a paper to show if needed, peace and love

Hello All,  I want to convert my South Australian Drivers license to a Philippine license.  The license is valid, I am also a permanent resident here.  I have visited two LTO offices, one in Dasmarinas and one in Alabang.  They both advised me that I need to go to the head office in Manila.  Has anyone experienced the same?  Also if I need to go to the head office, do I need an appointment prior, or is it a walk in process?  If anyone can assist, great!  Thanks and have a good day!

I got mine in Iloilo, without much trouble.

Perhaps some legality things can only be done in Manila,
BUT its very common officials try to further things they are suppoused to know because they dont know and find it "lose face" if they admit it.   Such have happened to us many times concerning business related things at e g the local BIR.  Sometimes they accept RECIEVING an application, BUT dont handle it local as they are suppoused to, instead they send to the far province office and take weeks instead of minutes if they would have known...  E g one suppoused to be common business thing they had never heared of at the municipaly BIR.  Still not finnished registered to the BIR registration a half year later, but recently they told us we have to collect additional documents to get it registered inspite of we had the document allready from start saying its approved just need registration
But actualy they were right, we need to collect documents AGAIN, which were shown allready when we got the earlier steps approvals!!!   Philippine officials realy like unnecesary documents, so not odd most Filipinos run black businesses.   When we registered our business the registrator told we are the first one EVER registered there, inspite of there are sure over 100 such businesses in that region.. We have bought one such business there and have looked at around 20 other to decide what to buy more, so they sure excist there

I got my driver's license while I was here in Angeles on a 30-day tourist visa. I used a "facilitator." a shady character that signs around the LTO tell you to avoid. My then-gf had an uncle who worked for the police, he got me a learner's permit for 8K (I just gave the money, my passport and California drivers license and waited). Apparently, he wasn't able to take it further, so we found a facilitator around the LTO.

I spent maybe 4 hours in total getting my joke medical, waiting (I'm guessing) for the right person to be bribed and then going to another LTO office to get fingerprinted, whereupon a legit license was issued. I didn't even have an address--since I didn't want to give the hotel as an address, I gave my best guess at the street names of the hotel's street corner (I was close). 1f602.svg I think I spent about another 10K or so.

Apparently you're supposed to have the learner's permit for 6 months before a license can be issued, but I'm not sure if that applies when you have a valid license from another country.

And if you got caught you would be blacklisted for 5-10 years after spending a week at the BI jail in Taguig and for what purpose? That is, after you made other foreigners look bad as a class. You might not do very well as an expat here. Flouting laws of the host country? How stupid can you get. Unless this is not some sort of troll BS story.

At least earlier the driving test was a joke too, because no driving test needed to get a LEGIT drivers licence!!! 1f923.svg   NO BRIBING needed, because that was the NORMAL procedure not testing driving!!!   I know a Filipina, who has CAR driver licence, but has NEVER driven any car...
