Once you arrive .if you plan to purchase Philippines phone Sim card . I suggest you download

By using Rebtel you get free calling anywhereÌý to USA .Ìý I use Rebtel myself and a lot of times I need to call business numbers and cell numbers it works great. And free

Congrats...Welcome to the Philippines which happens to be the second happiest country in Southeast Asia, according to the 2022 World Happiness Report & hope you too have a great time here.

Wellsfry

Haha... Philippines is 60... U.S. is 16th... It is reverse for me... I am way happier in Phil... of course that is where my Fiancee is...sooo there's that. 🙄Ìý Ìýthey are VERY far behind as far as infrastructure, etc... but the family life is super strong... and to me, that is what makes Philippines so awsome... not to mention the beaches and islands I have seen... amazing beauty...

ÌýThe wet season starts in June. It's good that Tariq is flying here in May instead of August, where the incidence of flight cancellations due to typhoons is higher.

Do pack an umbrella. I would suggest that you use them when outdoors to shield against the heat and the sun's burning rays. So buy one with good UV protection. It's so commonplace here in the Philippines to see someone using an umbrella when it's sunny. But in San Francisco, CA, when I used an umbrella to shield against the sun (I'm allergic to most sunscreen brands), people looked at me like I was a mental patient. LOL.

It can get so hot and humid here in the Philippines. And the weather can just suddenly change. Sometimes, it will rain heavily for 20 minutes to an hour while it's bright and sunny. My husband was so amazed the first time he experienced rainy and sunny at the same time.ÌýÌý

I stand corrected. Yes his arrival is May 28th. So he won't need his brolly for three daysÌý1f609.svg

This year its crazy weather during the "dry" season, the village where my business partner live in have had problem to get out from mostly during this year by deep mudd municipaly road by much raining.Ìý Yesterday he could get out finaly after two weeks, buit today bridges had been flooded so he coulödnt get out again even if walking...Ìý Ìý(He has walked 2 x 10 km to the highway more than once when not flooded bridges but to deep mudd road even for his motorbike with off road tires.)ÌýÌý

@FilAmericanMom Pack an umbrella? This is terrible advice I hear all the time. Just buy one! I am not trying to give you a hard time, as I know you mean well. I just giggle watching people at airports struggling with documentationÌý... - @Daytripper

ÌýI was reacting to another post which said to pack an umbrella.Ìý

What I meant to say was if the OP sees a good quality umbrella in the US, one with a good UV protection, he can purchase one and bring it here in his check-in luggage. I used to have this very nice large sturdy umbrella in the US with UV protection, but I gave it away thinking I could find the same here in the Philippines. It's hard to find large sizes here. And clothes are labelled as 1-3 sizes bigger, for both men and women's clothes.Ìý

@Daytripper (buying clothes in southeast Asia)

I had given up trying to buy trousers/slacks/pants in the Philippines that fit me. I found a tailor that made three custom made pairs for me ($100 USD), I supplied the fabric purchased at the mall.

I also placed a large order of Hanes T-Shirts & Boxers and had them shipped through my re-mailer (US Global Mail). The quality was awful compared to purchases made at Walmart when I was living in the states.

Bob did you ever try shipping cart for reshot from states? ThanksÌý

I've only have used US Global Mail. . . .I needed a stateside address which US Global Mail provides forÌý charge cards, medicare, IRS, life insurance. I have the mail FedEx'd about $50 USD whenever it builds up. MyÌý purchases have piggybacked with my mail. This has happened only three times in four years.
