Potential medical inadmissiblity for work permit in UAE[help!!]

Dear all,

Hope you are doing well.
I’m writing to enquire about a situation I’ve bumped into while trying to apply for a work permit in UAE.

I’m expected to start a job in UAE in the upcoming august. However, my conditional is that I had a past syphilis infection about 2 years ago and now I’m cured (TPPA positive - once you ever had it the antibodies remain, VDRL negative - shows that I’m cured and not infectious).

Given my situation, will I be denied for a work permit in UAE? My job type isn’t within the scope of 6 categories for which syphilis and hepatitis B tests are mandatory.

Anybody knows if my condition will lead to an automatic fail or deportation for my work visa? I also have kept a copy of my past records of adequate treatment and follow-up checks. Many thanks!

I’m really anxious about this.. anyone please shed some light on my dilemma? Thank you

Hiroshi

I don't think it will be an issue in the UAE.  They may make you run around, do tests and seek treatment (again!).  I don't remember if they do both TPHA or VDRL.

The issue is really with HIV, TB and Hep B (Hep B for 6 categories and TB for new visas).

Thank you very much for your help and kind reply!

I’ve emailed minister of health of UAE and according to their reply for 6 categories of workers they are mandatory for Hep. and syphilis tests which my job aren’t in those 6 types. Does that mean I’m safe to get the visa issued?

Also I heard that even have been issued a visa successfully, before I sign the contract with my employer they may ask me to do a medical health check. Is that true? I’m really stressed out :-‘(

@Hiroshi3 Hi! I hope you've been well, I just want to ask you regardimg your visa approval while having history of shypilis in the past, I am actually facing the same issue I came here in saudi arabia last 2017 and I was positive eith shypilis, fortunately, I was applying for student visa, so they provided me a treatment and I was granted iqama or permanent residence permit, Now, I graduated and I want to work in UAE, I want to know if you were able to get working visa since youmre thread is the lastest one. Please it would mean so much if you can response to my comment. Thank you!

@Kim0239 Thank you for your report. I'm in a similar situation. I discovered syphilis doing the exams to apply for a s audi work visa in my country and I was treated. I will wait for the rates and VRDL to drop but no w I can wait until the levels are very low. Quantitative VDRL theoretically would only give reagent with a tier >1:8 quantitative nonvdrl. Do you think they will handle it well? From your experience, how should I approach this upon arrival in Saudi Arabia?
