work permit refused

Hey Everyone,
about two weeks ago I got a  job offer from a Malta-based company. It is a big and legit company I checked that 1f605.svg
They applied for a Maltese Work Permit/Visa for me. Since it was a high-paying job the answer supposes to come in 5 days, but on the fourth day, I received a visa refusal from identity Malta!1f644.svg
The refusal was based on a very wierd reason, they said they are not being able to give me a work permit  based on not being able to gather "Due Diligence " from my original country (IRAN).
I asked two lawyers and they both told me since I am applying for a work visa, not an investment, this should not even apply to me 1f910.svg
The strange thing is that I have not lived in my country in the past 12 years; based on the advice of the company that I want to work with, I gather many documents showing I was studying and living out of my original country for the past 12 years.
They told me to stay put and wait for the result.
However, I am on a working visa in Turkey (non-EU),  I only have 2 months left on my visa, and I really don't want to renew my working visa if I don't have to.
I wonder now, considering that:
I am an Iranian Citizen
I live in Turkey
I have a master degree
I have 9 years of work experience in the Digital Marketing  and Graphic field
Do you have any idea how long an appeal-like that will take? Do I have any chances? should I wait at all?
Does anyone else face the same problem? Are such problems normal in Malta?
I will really appreciate it if you could give me your thoughts on this matter.
Thank you 1f60a.svg
