I'm going to in the Azores for a few months and working remotely from my job in the US. People in the US will likely still call my American cell phone number and I'll need to make calls to the US and, of course, local calls in the Azores. Does anyone have any tips on how to set all this up? One thought I had was to forward my US number to Google Voice, then get a local SIM card, and link my Google Voice number to that. That way I could use my iPhone for local calls in the Azores, but any calls to my US number would ring on the same phone. Then I could use Google Voice to call the US (I haven't checked their rates but I hear they're not bad).
Has anyone tried that? Is there a better way? And who's the best cell phone service provider in the Azores?

Google voice is the best way and the cheapest way from what I have read on other forums on the site with members in the same position as yourself. Skype is another option you may wish to look at.
