Are SkyMiles transferable between Delta and LATAM

Post new topic

kawakasbah

Now that Delta is partnering with LATAM anyone knows if it is possible to transfer delta SkyMiles to LATAM, and if so, how?

KenAquarius

@kawakasbahMy guess is they are not, but you could always go to Delta’s website and ask. They have a help center where you can message them.

kawakasbah

Thanks. no help from neither Latam nor Delta. quite a conundrum. I give up

KenAquarius

Did you try the message center? I used it a couple of times and got an answer within a few hours

kawakasbah

it takes forever to talk to someone and when you finally do, they are of no help since they don’t know.

I found this:

@kawakasbah, is there an advantage to transfer skymiles to LATAM?   I use various skyteam partners but I find that the skymiles is the most flexible program because the miles do not expire.

Here is what I do to ask about the transfer - I search for a flight that has a delta leg and LATAM leg.  Then I call the Delta customer support using the Delta App.  When I get a person online, I will ask for the flight as per the previous search.  After the customer support person has identified this flight and availability, you can ask about LATAM miles / transfer / etc.  You will typically be put on hold for 10 -20 mins as the customer service person contacts the partner airline - but you will definitely get an answer.

I like to use the Delta App customer support number because there is a survey at the end of the call - and the support person is incentivized to provide excellent support.

Good luck.
