In a big fix after EP rejection & STVP expiring

Post new topic

My husband's EP got cancelled and we are here in SG with STVP but the new employer's EP application got rejected cause the Indian university has not responded to degree verification made by them. Now we are in a fix, cause my FDW's permit will get cancelled and even If I get her 30-day STVP, what does she do after that? What if she can't get a new employer?

Please suggest.

I assume the FDW (Foreign Domestic Worker) is your maid?

In that case, if she cannot find a new employer, she has to return to her home country.

With just an STVP, you cannot be her employer any more. And while she has an STVP herself, she isn't allowed to do any work for you - best put her in a separate accommodation to dispel any suspicion that she might be working in your household illegally!

@beppi

Thank you, this helps. Haven't been able to find clarity on the status.

For your maid, you can contact one of the "EAs which are willing to take over the responsibilities for helpers" to arrange the accommodation for her until she can find a new employer; or until your EP problem is resolved.

If you really want to re-hire her, can talk to the EA to see how long they can keep her. They will charge about $30-$50 per day for that if i remember correctly

Thank you so much!
