Philippine Travel updates

Lotus Eater

Some interesting developments on new flight routings to and from the Philippines with our favourite Filipina correspondent the gorgeous Miss Jennifer (if only all Filipina's had 10% of her common sense) Terri.

Of particular interest are new direct flights to North America. Philippine Airlines are proposing to add non stop flights from Houston, Chicago, & Las Vegas with the addition of 9 shiny new Airbus A350's.  Air Canada have introduced a direct flight from Vancouver to Manila. Moreover there are some additional regional flights within the Philippines to various Asian cities negating the need to fly via Ninoy Aquino.

Personally I would not fly Philippine Airlines on any route longer than 3 hours but then maybe I'm just a bit picky.

Bon voyage!

I hope the LAS/ MNL flight is true.  They use to have one via Vancouver and it was great.  Took it several times and never any problem.  Just wish they were flying the 747.  That was the real queen of the sky.

Last 2 trips to the US I flew Davao-Hongkong-LA

or Davao-Cebu-Taiwan-LA

will gladly pay more to avoid Manila!

No problem with Philippine Airlines just that disgusting excuse for an airport

I have been using NIA since 1070 and always enjoyed it.  It was kind of fun dodging the buckets catching the rain water.  The food was good and the shops interesting.  The bathrooms need some work..  Worst part was , and is, just getting to and from the airport.

Thanks Lotus, that was a nice update from Jennifer. She mentioned the new United AL route to Cebu, which I took for this last trip. SFO to Narita to Cebu in about 16 hours total. It was all on ANA and was quite comfortable in Premium Economy, which was a small section compared to their enormous Bus class, which took up half the triple 7. Must be for all those folks using UAL upgrades.  Overall a good experience, much quicker than my previous route through HNL, best part was avoiding Maynila haha.

@pnwcyclist

ANA are indeed a highly respected airline currently sitting at number 4 on the Skytrax 100 airline league table. I suspect that the business class cabin has high occupancy on that route but with a small premium class cabin you would be first in line for an upgrade!

Glad you enjoyed the flight, and Jennifer wink.png

US travel update, glad to say I will not be purchasing any vehicles the next 4 years.

Off topic. LOL mugtech, yes things are looking grim in some countries at many levels but we won't get into the politics.

Here in PH. our eyes are in the Chinese BYD Sealion 7 once they release them. Over travelling for 2 hours to get a service for our current SUV for 6 years.

BYD are opening 2 dealerships here in La Union and only 30 minutes away, we can plug it into our solar and no fuel or electricity charges.

I do wonder what tariffs will hit us here in the near future.

Cheers, Steve.
