Hi oktaydemr,

have you ever been to Malta? There is a vegetable dealer on every street corner here and all vegetables come from the local market. Are you thinking of importing vegetables from Turkey or what do you mean by turkish grocery and vegetables? The Turkish community here is quite small. We actually have a turkish store just around the corner in Sliema but he does not stock specific Turkish products. Probably no market for them here.

A direkt question: How much do you want to invest and what are your business qualifications? What is your business in Turkey? You are asking about a 'place' for a new investment. You mean a village in Malta or are you just talking in general terms?

Most business advisors would recommend that you invest in Turkey. The options and prospects are much better in your home country.

Cheers

dear ricky ;
thanks for your interest.but i want to sell special turkish food in foreign contry. and searching market all around the world.yes i want to import turkish vegetables,spices grocery.i m talking about general terms.i m also searching for a place for investment in main street sliema or valetta.or maybe i ll open a internet site for people who are living in malta.i didnt visit malta but i like that place .i dont know the reason ricky.

i graduated from tourism hotel managment and administration and worked in conrad and marriott hotels and now searching for good market.i think malta is good option for that because there are no turkish products there.i got message from a person who is living in sliema.she told me that i can rent a shop in sliema with the price of 40euro/day . i m open for new ideas.wafflehouse,brewery,turkish restaurant,cafe i m just searching.

best regards

ricky

Hi oktaydemr,

my first thought is that 40 € /day is way to expensive unless it is a huge shop or somewhere on Tower Road or the Strand. I have a Maltese friend who has been trying to rent out his shop in Sliema for 3 years for half that amount.There are hundreds or even more unrented commercial properties in Sliema and even more flats/appartments.

Why not try working in tourism one of the mentioned hotels in Malta and getting a feeling for the island. It really is a very small market and difficult for non-Maltese to enter into the areas you quote. I would steer cleer of the food/vegetable market as you would be in direct competition with Maltese busineses.

And don't forget that as a non-EU you will have problems starting a business here without investing a significant amount of money and employing EEA/Maltese people in your business.

I wish you luck and hope you find the right idea.
Cheers
Ricky
