Vung Tau

Post new topic

Momryan

Hello,

My family will be moving to Vung Tau.  Where is the best serviced apartment or high rise apartment with ammenities?  Also, are there many Expatriate wives there?  My husband will be working a lot and I have a two year old son and baby on the way.  Any info about life in Vung Tau is appreciated.

Thank You,
M

Also, does the Imperial Hotel offer serviced apartments and if so, what do prices start at?

Thank You,
M

Vung Tao is a sad looking day-out resort town which is now having a medical tourism hospital built along with some Western-style hotels and resorts.

It is about 89 minutes from TP HCM by high-speed flying fish ferry or about an hour ad a half by road.

It is also the service port for the southern VietNam oil and gas projects, so you will find a lot of oil and gas men down there. The air service, and the ferry service, to Con Dao Islands also use Vung Tau.

By the time you get there I suspect there will be a lot of women, with children, waiting for their overworked husbands to arrive home. Your posting is one of many I have seen in the past few months.

Just north of Vung Tau along the coast you will find a natural hot mud and steam baths which has been upgraded by building a resort around it, including a cash register. It was free a few years ago.

There are several apartment buildings there but whether they are serviced or not you are best to wait until you arrive.

You should consider writing a book or blog about Vietnam. You have an amazing extensive knowledge about this country. :)

I never been to Vung Tau yet. Some day I will. I only am interested in eating fresh seafood and thats about it. I've been to Nha Trang, the outskirts of TP Nha Trang beach, Cam Ranh Bay, Mui Ne, so I'm sure I'll be disappointed with Vung Tau. :)
