Hi all,

In order to keep the forum clear, friendly and useful, we invite you to follow these guidelines. They have been made to help you in using the forum.

FIRST STEPS ON THE FORUM:

> Before writing, we invite you to have a look at the previous threads to make sure your topic wasnÂ’t already covered.

> When starting a new thread, select its title wisely: the clearer it is, the more answers you will receive.

> Ask one question at a time: it would be easier for the other members to answer. Of course, you can post other questions later.

> Do not forget to introduce yourself: it will help to give you a personalized answer and it will be much more pleasant.

> Please respect the topic categories: avoid going off-topic and feel free to create a new thread to talk about a new topic.

> Avoid posting personal details, such as your phone number, email address or Skype contact, on a public forum. The ½ûÂþÌìÌà team will remove these details for your safety.

> For any question related to the use of the website or for a technical problem, please use our contact form.

Make sure to write correctly and clearly on the forum so that everyone can understand: avoid cap locks and SMS language.

JOBS AND HOUSING SECTIONS:

If you want to post a job offer or if you are looking for a job, please post on the Malta Jobs section.

If you are looking for an accommodation or want to offer one, please go to the Malta Housing section.

ADVERTISING:

The forum is not aimed at helping you to promote your company and products. If your thread is of a commercial nature, please use the dedicated sections: we invite you to register in the Malta Business directory or to have a look at our Advertising page.

The forum canÂ’t be used to promote external groups or organizations. Should you want to organize gatherings/activities with the other members, kindly get in touch with us: we would be pleased to help you.

The entire concept of this forum is to promote the free exchange of information and ideas. Therefore, everyone has a fundamental right to form and express their own opinions, provided that they comply with the terms of use of the website. However, it is not acceptable to criticize or abuse another member in any way for simply expressing their opinion or making a personal observation. I suggest that averts for accommodation, cars etc are  posted for a month then removed. They can be reposted if they are still applicable. I have responded to a couple of ads only to be informed that they have been let or sold. I notice that these ads are still posted which is not acceptable, especially after a year!!

totally agree

It would appear that someone has been 'flouting' the rules recently.

Toon

nothing new but its difficult to stay within the lines (or rules) if you dont know where the lines are?

Could I suggest that some of the newer members read the first post in this 'Sticky' and particularly the first three points in 'First steps on the forum'. Multiple posts on the same topic will not bring more answers!

Also it helps to use English which is the Forum Language and also to check the date on a post you are replying to as it may have originated several years ago.

The website is great, but would there be a chance you could change the SPAM block under the housing section? We all hate spam, but I am quite desperate for some housing and consequently want to send a lot of people messages. And then yes of course all messages are somewhat the same with a little introduction of yourself, what you are looking for etc.

The idea is that you post on the forum topic, not send a string of messages to individuals.

I will try and help anyone who asks questions (in the right topic or starts a new one) but if I receive personal messages, unless they relate to something being discussed on the forum, I tend to block the sender.

Dear Ray,

I understand that posting on the forum is the main idea for most topics. But especially for the Housing section, you tend to reply to individuals who offer housing, no? Or is the idea that you post an open message on the forum and hope that those with availability will reply to you instead of the other way around?

Don't get me wrong. I think the Spam filter is a great addition. Just wondering whether it makes sense in the "housing" section.

If you are responding to a recent advert in the housing section fine, but if the ad is a week or two old forget it. You could put a wanted ad in the housing section, but no point if you don't know where you want to live!

Thanks for the tip, i'll take that into account!
