Control in the Airport by authorities

Post new topic

Splinter301

Hello,

I'm moving to Riyadh by the end of this month, for a professional travel.

I will bring My Personal Laptop, Ipad and my external Hard drive, and want to know if there is any Control in the Airport by authorities, as having Movies, Music and Pictures there.

I want to avoid any Problem, specially during the first days.As i don't know the local Laws.

And if you have any advice it will be kind from you.

Thank u in Advance

I guess it all depends on luck.....I got my laptop and digital devices and there were no checks specifically .... though u do hear some stories... I think u shdn't have any trouble even if checked  till it's something outright objectionable...

Btw ... torrents work here ;>

I've traveled in/out of Saudi airports a half dozen times over the past year and have never had my laptop or external hard drive searched.  In fact, I've rarely been directed to remove my laptop or any other items, including books and magazines, from my carry-on bags.  And with nearly everyone possessing these types of items, it would be time consuming to check each and every bag.  However, I once witnessed someone being pulled aside and searched because he had so many electronic devices---more than what a normal passenger would carry.  BTW, I'm  female, so perhaps that makes a difference.  Anyway, I suggest you put any music CDs and movie DVDs in plain, unlabeled cases, and keep even these items to a minimum.

I have never been searched. The guy at the baggage scanner seems to never be paying attention to his screen. However I have a friend that they accused him of having porn on his portable harddrive. He just denied it and they never scaned it.

Thank you all for your answers,
don't know anybody there, so you could imagine arriving without music & Movies specially the first days.

Normally, they don't conduct such search on domestic flights in Saudi Arabia

Domestic no but international yes.

It all depends on your luck, there have been cases where latops, hard drives etc have been searched. Its not common but it does happen.

As long as there is no offensive material there is nothing to worry about.

enjoy the trip and welcome to Riyadh
