Post new topic

Has anybody been to this place lately? Is it worth a trip from Can Tho to it check out for some western food items?

PHUONG HA HAM STORE
Address: 58 Ham Nghi, District 1

I already have Veggys and Annam on my list for Saturdays trip up to Saigon. Really don't want to waste my time if it's not worth it.

Thanks

Depends what your after, but it's always worth popping your head in. There's a couple of options on that street, next door that are worth a look too.
Given you're coming from Can Tho it's hardly out the way :D

If you're already in Saigon it wouldn't hurt. But I wouldn't come from Can Tho just to go there. It's in Viet but here's the website. You can see some of the products they offer just by randomly clicking the links on the left even if you can't read it:

Thanks for the link Jerry. I'll be up there attending a function anyway. I'll stop by and see what they have in stock. Plan on stopping at Veggys and Annam at the same time also.

My favourite shop for western goodies. Worth the visit.

i have never been in this shop neither, is the expensive there?

I think it is worth it mostly because it's much cheaper than Vedgy's and Annam. Plus there's a different selection of stuff there. I was able to find Indian spices and grains that I didn't at the other stores. I think it's worth it depending on what you're looking for.
Plus, there is another international grocery to the left of it that will usually have what Phuong Ha's doesn't. (Cream cheese frosting and brownie mix!)
Hope this helps!

It's a pretty good store, considering it's hard to find western products here in Saigon. Just inspect everything you buy, especially the frozen/dairy products. Last time I was there a couple bags of cheddar cheese had mold on them, and some of the frozen packages had freezer burn. Check the expiration dates and you should be ok. I tend to prefer Veggy's

wow! it sounds good! thank you for reply! i will definitelly check it out!! :)

I'll be checking it out this week-end. Thanks everybody for the advice....

You should visit Ham Nghi Street for imported food, cheaper than Annam about 30%

all the indians in Saigon visit this shop on a weekly basis. this shop has all the spices and grains we indians need. plus there is also a big collection of western food. i dont buy the frozen food from there. most of the frozen products i can find in Metro/Giant. the price is also much less.
