Moving to Malta! help!

Post new topic

Hi everyone.

I know a lot of people have posted the same thing but the reason why I am posting my own one is because I need blunt straight forward answers. The government website uses so much gobbledygook I am massively confused. We are moving to valetta in April next year, we are not worried about renting a house as we have enough savings to be safe.
I need to know what to do before and after we get there? What do I need to apply for? Do I need visa or work permits?

Also if anyone could tell me there experiences of your actual move from UK to Malta I would really appreciate it.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hi Rio and Neil,

no, no problems wih moving to Malta if you have money, job , are studying or are financially self-sufficient. If not consider your situation..... safe as you have money! That is the best entry ticket to Malta.

After you arrive juat show your  bank statement when you apply for residency and all will be fine if you also have health insurance.

Cheers

We will have enough money but thought we could look for jobs when we are out there? Or shall we look before?

Thank you

I would advised you look for jobs before applying for the residency coz it might take few months before you get everything sorted. And also, would make things easier if you have a job when applying for the residency document. Have a look at this , it might help you to clarify some doubts.

May I ask what is the extent of your interest in Malta?
Have you visited previously?
What line of work?
Thanks,

As an EU citizen you can come to Malta as a tourist, no problem.
If you wish to work you will need to be a resident, to do this you will have to prove that either you have a job or you are economically self sufficient ie you have sufficient money to live on and you have medical cover.
To get a job you need to be in Malta, wages are low for unskilled workers.
If you are in IT or online gambling you stand a better chance of securing a job before you arrive.
If you have never been to Malta, try a short break first and remember "the grass is not always greener ....."
