Offer analysis - need inputs

Post new topic

R P M

Dear All,

I am considering an offer from a Bank in Riyadh, I have ~7 years of banking work experience.

I request inputs on following:

1. I am being offered a salary of ~20000 rials, if i decide to take a 1BHK/Studio apartment in compound and live an average life style (single person), how much can i save per month.

2. Given the current Nitaqat program, how stable are expat jobs. My current job contract is of 1 year, so is there a possibility that after 1 year, the contract isn't renewed and I shall be asked to leave.

Thanks in advance

Very good offer! Im assuming its inclusive of housing and transport allowance? You can really save a lot belive me since you are going to be single over here I guess.

Muhammad Aamer

The offer is reasonable for your experience.
You can have a good studio apartment against a reasonable rent.
Stability of your job depends upon your performance and stability of the bank's business [Banking sector in Saudi is quite stable]. And, Nitaqat has nothing to with the performing employees.

How employable ur work role is back in India, in case you don't end up liking this place or ur contract is not renewed ?

Salary is just 1 part of ur overall life... so take a holistic view and have some plan in place for the above situation I mentioned before taking the plunge... By the way I am in a bank too... for ur work ex if u r getting tht salary I wud presume u r in a specialized skill set...

R P M

Dear Sir,

Can you please elaborate the other issues that i need to consider apart from job?
Is Safety an area of concern / Going back to India and getting a Job / Social life ?

Muhammad Anil

Same offer here. grab it.

R P M

Thanks for the revert.
Even I am planning to join. Before shifting I just wanted to get understanding about the place.

Does your offer includes housing also, mine doesnot

Dude, embrace the world. Come and learn new culture. You wont regret belive me just keep ur mind open and dont expect for everthing to be your way always. This country will teach you great deal of tolerance (personally I did) which shapes us to be better person.

Good luck.

R P M

Dear All,

Thanks for the revert

Its highly safe and good for people who r married, but quiet boring for singles. So i guess u r on the right track with good package, welcome to saudi. Also i can say much safer than other countries.

Dear All,

Thanks for the reply. I have one more question:

My wife is having ~10 years of work experience as a software engineer. Is it possible for her to get a software job or not ?  As far as I know, women are only allowed teaching and medical jobs.

Muhammad Anil

Dear All,

Just one more question, In India, I am getting ~INR 1.6 lakh per month post tax (~SAR 10,000 p.m.). Is the move financially worth or not??

I dont think so anyone can answer this for you, Its all subjected to your requirements and priorities !! And suppose if someone will say this offer is not good or financially viable, will you drop this offer, Just think !!

Good Luck

R P M

I was just asking from financial savings perspective

Kymadoce

RPM the fact tht u r getting tht salary ... i guess u r already in a good place looking forward for a good career ahead...further as advised above ur wife may not be able to get any job and just sit at home... wasting her skills as well..

Think in long term perspective... as mid east expirence isn't looked at with much favor outside....if the only reason is the money then a jump from 10K to 20K with ur wife not working isn't really worth it ... or is it ?? ;>

R P M

thanks for the advise.
The only reason I was looking for a middle east job was to save some good amount of money in short term, But it seems that might not be the case, due to high rentals / other expenes.
I might have to re consider my decision....

Incorrect.

Women are employed in IT.

They absolutely suck .. but that is another story.

R P M

are you sure that expat women are allowed jobs in IT ?

Yes, the luckiest women on earth do get jobs in IT in KSA :)

It's matter of priorities. Saudi ladies first, Arab ladies second, Arabic (language and culture) knowing expat ladies third and last are the non-Arabic knowing expats.

By the way, did anyone tell you that housewives are not allowed to work legally? This has been under discussion in government authorities but nothing good has been finalised yet.

R P M

Ok , understood..

R P M

Hi All,
The more i read about life in KSA, the more i get convinced to decline Job offer.
I am getting ~1.8 times my Indian salary (90000 USD p.a. vs 50000 USD) and I am convinced that there is no point going for PAID Slavery in KSA.

Trapezius

Good for you!

But those numbers aren't correct.  SR. 20,000 per month is $64,000 per year, and your Indian salary then is $32,000.

R P M

I have decided to decline the offer considering the risks involved
in the plunge..
