The way that it tends to work is this;

First find a removal company where you are. The majority, as well as doing local moves, will have some experience in moving overseas. Check their insurance policy / are they a member of a recognised US industry body, Do they have experience in moving people to Islamic countries? If so they will be able to advise on what you are permitted to bring in. 

Your removal company should then come in and box everything up for you and take it away. Depending on how much stuff you have you will either require a full container load (fcl) or less than container load (lcl) All of your stuff will then be placed in a freight container and shipped on one of the many container vessels that run between the gulf and the west.

Your removal company in the US should then appoint a clearing agent in Saudi whose job it will be to get your stuff out of the port, out of customs and safely delivered to you.

For clearance Saudi side you will need to complete a bit of paperwork, nothing too onerous, however you will need to get your Iqama (see other chats on this topic) sorted out ASAP.

The stuff you will need to sort is;

Authorization letter addressed to Customs Director – Riyadh Dry port filled outboth in English and Arabic, duly signed & stamped by your sponsoring company and must be legalized from the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce.

Sponsor Certification addressed to Customs Director Riyadh Dry-port prepared in your companyÂ’s letter head in Saudi Arabia, signed and stamped from your sponsoring company.

Shipment declaration addressed to Customs Director – Riyadh Dry-port.  Prepared in Arabic, signed and stamped.

Copy of Iqama (RESIDENCE PERMIT)

Passport copy with entry visa
