Emarati Stereotypes

Post new topic

expatgirl335

What do you think of Emarati people? I was reading this post about and It got me curious to know what others think.

I personally love Emarati people... very polite, hospitable and welcoming. I must say though that I haven't met many Emarati people outside my work environment, so my experience is limited

What is your experience?

Hi expatgirl335,
I think they are nice and respectful people.

Fred

Stereotypes are used in comedy, and to create fear.

English comedians used to tell Irish jokes, not intending to create fear or hate, just being funny. Many Irish comedians of the time joined in.

Stereotypes are also used to harm a population.
The Nazis did it to the Jews, and others target given populations today.

The OP uses a positive stereotype to describe the people she knows, as I often do with Indonesians.

It isn't the stereotype we need to care about, it's the intention behind its use.
