Ladies of a Certain Age!

Post new topic

donna4rich

Hi!

I've seen lots of posts from young mums looking for friends but is there no one of my 'certain age' (50 shhhhhh!) looking for friends?

I love mixing with younger people but would dearly love to have some friends of my age too! We have just as much fun, without all the worries of young families and the responsibilities they bring!

Will be coming over next year and would really like to make some friends before I come?

Anyone out there?

Donna

LOL! Well, looks like I'm the only 'mature' lady going to live in Mauritius!

LOL, Donna! I left Mauritius 3,5 months ago; would have fitted in :)

Hi Arlette,

I always thought that you were a young lady. Hope to see you soon in Mauritius. We all miss you.

Age is not the matter, Donna. Be open and come to expat-blog events, no doubt that you will make friends there.

donna4rich

I will! Just as soon as I get there! (I shall of course be disguised as a 22 year old blonde bombshell!)

Hi Donna, I too will be moving to mauritius in january from the uk. I am am not a young mum but a forty something one with  with children at primary school!Age doesnt matter,it is how one feels and lives their lives that does count,I think.I've met plenty of boring young women and some more mature ones who were such fun to be with.Nothing to do with age!I will be moving to Vacoas/Floreal as we have now found a place wich we like there.Where will you be based?

donna4rich

I quite agree! Age is irrelivant, I have friends of all ages and often a mixed group has more fun that a group of people the same age. I've sent you a pm by the way. Good luck with your move!  Donna

Hi Donna,

As Catherinedp mentioned just go to a meet up and you will make friends. Don't focus on age as you will see that you will meet lots of nice people from all age. Stay open.

Cheers

Melissa

Hi Melissa,

I don't really care about age at all, it just struck me that all the posts seemed to be from younger women! As I said before my friends are all different ages and it works really well.

Thanks for your reply

New life makes you younger anyway, Donna.

Hi, where will you be living?  Although the island is small, it takes time to travel to the other sides of the island.  You will probably find that your environment will dictate your circle of friends.  We are in the north and have a large circle of friends of all ages, although I agree, it is sometimes good to mix with your own generation.  My husband and I rather close to your age, so let us know where you will be based.

Hi Donna, I know where you are coming from.. I've been here almost two years now and although my hubby and I have met some stunning people to socialise with after a dive, or golf or the odd dinner out, there still isn't that just pop in for a cuppa friend! And due it I've actually recently gone back to work just to get out of the house and regain some sanity. I'm mid 40's, my youngest is 10 and my eldest 18, so I've long passed the baby stage. I'm quite well thought of once you get to know me. I'm glad you put this post on, I didn't have the courage to. I agree with Hanlie though, your place of residence will dictate your circle of friends. We live in Pointe Aux Sables, on the coast South of Port Louis and do a lot of travelling to our friends in the North. We don't mind the commute to socialise as we lived in Jhb for many years and everything was just around the corner, being a 45 min.drive away! Looking forward to hearing from you. Kaybee

Hi Donna.

Most of my friends are around your age, a fantastic group of ladies!

Bernadine

Hey there Donna.

We don't all have children, but there are a few ladies over 40, including myself, around. Unfirtunately though we are bound by office jobs so can't participate in the lunches and coffee get togethers, but we are always up for something after hours and on weekends.

Are you already in Mauritius and if so how are you managing? I read your posts and even though I have some cousins around my age, I would like to make some friends who are like minded!
I shall be arriving around April 2012. Please PM me if you would like to meet when I am there.

Good luck in your new adventure.
