Help with how to open a cafe

Post new topic

Dylangray

Hello,

I am looking to open up a small cafe in Malta and would like your opinions and help answering these questions;

1. Which licenses would I need? I know I would need a trading license and a food handling license but how much do these cost and is there anything else?

2. Are there any special tax circumstances?

3. Is there anything else that I am missing?

I have already tried to find this information but the gov licenses website is no help at all and there doesn't even appear to be an office that I can visit to discuss these questions.

I would really appreciate any help at all as I am really not sure where else to turn!

Thank you in advance,

Dylan

Hi Dylan,

I recommend you read the following article : Setting up a business in Malta, it will be useful to you.

All the best,

Thank you, that is very informative, however do you know if it is necessary to register as a company at this stage? as it would only be myself and my partner opening the cafe and we could not afford to spend over a €1000 just on registering as a company.

Also do you have any idea how much the food-related licenses would cost?

Thanks again,
Dylan

As you are in Malta then it would be easier to go into a local cafe and ask!

There are plenty of expats running bars.

Or try this.
