Retiring in Kuwait

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

Why did you choose to retire in Kuwait? What are the advantages compared with your home country?

What were your main considerations when deciding to move? For example, taxes, ease of transferring your pension, etc..

Are there any specific formalities you had to go through as a retiree moving to Kuwait (for example, is there a particular retirement visa)?

What is Kuwait's healthcare like? Have you had any good or bad experiences dealing with healthcare professionals?

Do you have any tips for other retirees in Kuwait?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

nobody retires here.

you cant because of the following:
1) you need to have a work permit to have valid residency.
2) without a job, expats cannot stay in Kuwait.
3) job must transfer salary monthly, even if they keep your residency as a ghost employee, the cost of living is quite high without income.

so yeah, no expat retires here.

I am not retired in Kuwait, I work for U.S. Defense Contractor at Camp Buehring. I would advise against retiring in Kuwait.  The Cost of living is really expensive and I compare it to the state of California. Locals raise prices for expats especially Americans.

Asminstrator Priscilla, just wants to stir the pot so forum won't die. I bet it's a copy/paste thing in other countries forums.

Nobody retires in Kuwait except Kuwaitis. Expats packs up and leave the country when no longer valuable.
