Inviting expats to single out both deserving and disreputable/incompetent dentists in the Melaque region.聽

Beware of the epidemic-like prescription of CROWNS, many (most) of which are not necessary (for chipped teeth, loose fillings).聽 Ceramic crowns should not be used for back teeth (only porcelain on metal).聽 If on first try, the crown is too high, it should be sent back.聽 The more the dentist has to shave off or pare down a crown, the more its integrity is compromised.聽 Filing away at a GOOD TOOTH above or below the crown (to improve the bite) is a non-starter.

Beware of dentists working on other teeth without your explicit permission.聽 Furthermore, the dentist owes you a detailed explanation of proposed work.

Beware of dentists fabricating work.

If dentist offers both white and metal based fillings, refuse the more durable metal compound because lead has not yet been banned from use in Mexico.

This is a really bad idea as naming a dentist and claiming incompetence without proof (such as successful court action) would be defamation, something that isn't allowed on the forums.

Point well taken.聽 Implied in any negative report is as second and even third professional opinion that confirms the quality of original workmanship or lack of.

We have a wonderful dentist in PV. He came highly recommended by friends who live there. Those recommendations are priceless.

I was interested in the subject and any responses to your question.聽 How about: "can you tell me about a dentist you are happy with or unhappy with?"聽 Happiness is subjective, a very personal feeling 聽 No one can sue you if you are unhappy with someone聽聽 Rather insane that the same question asked differently is "okay" -- what a world.
