Health cover advice on costs please

Hi, My wife and I are looking to relocate to Portugal next year (2019)

We will be 53 and will NOT be working.
We will be purchasing a property outright.
We will have decent savings and be living off savings until our pensions kick in at 55.
These will be small pensions and obviously we will be on a tight budget.

Can any members help us out with advice on healthcare cover and its associated costs?

Can we get into the Portuguese health care system, and if so what will they charge?

Does anyone pay private insurance. and which is the cheapest?

Many thanks in advance. - T and S

My wife and sone relocated to Portugal 2 years ago. We found a health insurance company called Medis that reasonably priced. We also have a useful app called "Kovered" (kovered.io) that is very helpful in locating health and wellbeing needs.

Hope this helps

70YO no major issues. Cigna Global quoted me $408/month for an excellent policy.
