Question about house hunting online

Post new topic

DaphneReed

I'm hoping to expat to Brazil. I've searched many websites for houses. A few of those sites which are also realty agencies have contacted me. I'd like to know if anyone has had any luck with these organizations and if they can tell me about the reputation of these agencies.
They are fusedworld and propertybond.uk
I'm sure one of the best ways to find a place is to actually go to the country, but when you have limited vacation time (I'm a teacher) and not the biggest travel budget in the world, the internet is a saving grace!
Hoping to hear from any and all who can provide sound advice & information.
Thanks and I like this forum.

Hi there,
welcome aboard :)

Just in case nobody answers you directly here, there are some active bloggers out there in Brazil.
Maybe contacting them directly might be an option.

Just in case :)

Cheers & Best of Luck, Nicole

Thank you both I will try contacting both as well as others that I happen to find. I'll let the forum know of my experiences and success should someone else find themselves in a similar place as me.

We just moved to Argentina with our family a couple of months ago and faced the apartment/house from afar dilemma.  I just wanted to pass on the advice that I wouldn't lock yourself into anything too long-term before moving to the country.  We rented a temporary furnished apartment and got the lay of the land, about which we are very happy because we've ended up going in a completely different housing direction than we thought we would!!

Also, I think that the prices for the more expat-focused real estate rentals will be going down because foreign travel will be down due to tough economic times.

Good Luck!

BRASILIANT

I don´t know about foreign real estate agencies, but actually it will be much easier for you to find a house or apartment when you are in Brazil.

It´s hard to get information by email or even by phone from Brazilian companies. Brazilians still prefer the personal contact when makeing business and even in private life. First you have to make a connection with the person you are dealing with, that makes things much easier. Otherwise they treat you "by the book" wich means a lot of red tape. ;)

When you arrive in Brazil, take some time to visit real estate agencies how will show you some objects you. Or even better if you know where to live, browse the neighbourhodd by car and search for signs of vacant objects. This way you´ll get to know the area.
