Same question for Sosua....

It is illegal in  Santiago.   IT is illegal outside a gated private community or golf course I am told.

And before everyone starts with,  I do it all the time, my friend does it all the time etc etc that does not make it less illegal.

Aha - back to 30 days and overstays.....

In Sosua, you get a permit from the local Police/City Gov.  It is legal, until they change their minds.  That has happened 3 times in the 2 years I've been living here.  I imagine they charge you a new fee each time they make them legal again, why else would they keep changing the rules??
