STVP expiring, EP application pending for 4 weeks

Post new topic

Hello! I am an Indian national living in Singapore for 6 years with my spouse and 2 year old son. In march, I lost my job due to covid but thankfully I found another job during my stay on STVP. EP application for the same was applied on 22nd March, but the current status of the application is still pending as of 18th April. I have already availed the facility of extending my STVP. My current extended STVP expires on 22nd April. Flying to India at the moment will be a huge risk considering the COVID rampage there.

Does it generally take this long for MOM to share an outcome? It has been 4 weeks now and my next employer has also raised a formal request to expedite the process. Should I request for another extension from MOM? If yes, what are the chances of it getting approved?

I am from a design background and changing jobs from an Advertising agency to a big Software company. Salary is in 5 digits.

The situation is unclear and constantly changing.
Therefore, we can't seriously tell you about your approval chances and how long it will take. Sorry!
The only way to find out is waiting for MoM's decision.

Hi any updates on your STVP extension/EP pending?

GuestPoster311

My previous employer has applied for an extension today. Hopefully it will come through.

Hi Satdal,
Hey could you please let me know who applied for   Your stvp extension from 22nd March to 22nd April. Is this applied by previous employer or new new employer.
And can we apply for stvp extension if EP application status is pending?
I’m in same situation and need to apply for stvp extension, my EP application status is pending .

Hello,
It was applied by my previous employer. The extension can only be granted for 14 days each time. So your flight shouldn’t be later than 14days from the last day on your STVP. Your ex employer has to apply through an online portal and pick the reason ‘Flight to home country is within 14days after expiry of STVP’. But it totally depends on MOM discretion to approve it or reject.

Hi how is your status now? You got the STVP extended and managed to get EP approval yet?

GuestPoster311

Not yet, still pending. 8 weeks done and dusted.

Fingers crossed hope you get it next week!
So MOM did grant you an extension on STVP? How about the flight arrangement?

Hi.. Should we attach the flight itinerary while applying for STVP extension ? Or Can apply for STVP extension without prior flight booking?

Beppi- Please may I seek your unnderstanding on this, I tried searching all threads plus MOM website but I am still confused.

1. My EP expires 3rd September, 2021, new EP (not renewal) application will be filed on 16th July(delayed due to some reason)

2. If my EP gets approved before 3rd sep, well & good, if not then will I automatically get initial 30 days STVP or ex employer needs to apply for it, if they need to apply do I need to show the flight ticket?

3. How many times can the STVP be extended until EP outcome comes? Do we need to show flight ticket? If I am showing flight ticket(dated 30 days from EP expiry)in my first extension, during second STVP extension why will MOM approve if I already had a flight booked to leave the country.

Any suggestion would be very helpful.

I think you meant 16th August, not July. Read your post above.

When your employer cancels your EP, you are instantly issued a STVP (electronic document that is emailed across to you). That gives you 30 days to stay in SG, find a job/ get your new pass issued or pack bags and head back home after cleaning any IRAS dues.

You don’t need flight tickets for the initial STVP.

Apologies, yes you are correct, my EP will be filed on 16th August, thanks for the clarification that for initial STVP we do not need flight ticket and that it’s computer generated automatically once the pass expires.
Just curious, If my EP doesn’t get approved within this 30 days(initial STVP) then my ex employer will file and extension and will I need to produce flight ticket in such case?
Really appreciate your help and guidance on this forum, it helps a lot of folks like us😊

In this case, extension of STVP does not extend. If due to covid situation, there is no flight to your home country or very selected flights are available on specific dates then MoM may grant a week or two till  next available flight.
Same time you can also inform them that your EP is pending to get approval and consider extending another 30 days looking at covid situation. It’s up to them to decide. Good luck

It is also good to keep in mind that, before COVID, the STVPs issued after work pass cancellation were NOT AT ALL EXTENDABLE. Any extension you get now is purely due to exceptional COVID-related circumstances - and this situation can change at any time without prior notice. So better don't plan on it!

Thanks a lot for the info, I gues I can just pray that the EP gets approved at the max before 1st auto extension of STVP ends.
