Drug Screening in the Iqama Medical Test

Post new topic

arandomguy

Hi everyone,

I'll fly in a couple of days to Saudi Arabia and most probably, after the mandatory quarantine period, I'll face the mandatory medical exam for my Iqama application. Despite it seems to be a regular medical test, I suspect they could carry a drug screening on my blood and/or urine samples. I have taken coke two weeks ago, so, I'm incredibly scared about this.

Any thoughts? Should I be concerned?

Thanks in advance.

I'm afraid of what's said in this website:

"People in Saudi already need to pass a drugs test to obtain a work contract or a marriage certificate."

The standard iqama medical doesn't have any drug screening in it.   In addition, recreational coke cannot be detected after 3 days in blood or urine (only hair test).  So I wouldn't worry about it.

Take this as a lesson for the future, don't do drugs while you are based in Saudi, even when you travel outside.   If ever, if they think that you are behaving oddly at the airport, they can and will test you for drugs.   So keep that in mind.

Many thanks for your help!

I'm not based on Saudi yet. It's my first travel to the country. Everything I did, I did in my country. I have been so naive.

Do you think hair tests, in companies, are frequent? I'm not going to hold any position like driver, oil and gas professional, health professional, or so, but I'll work within an office.

Sorry for the amount of silly questions. I'm literally panicking.

Thanks again!

No one does hair tests here.  Chill and stop doing crap - you won't have to worry as much.

God bless you. Many thanks for your assistance.

Hi, can I ask what your experience was of drug testing?  Is it hair, blood, urine or saliva testing? I would like to teach in the UAE but I used to smoke cannibis (stopped about a month ago) & am worried I'll be tested for my visa & in the educational system.  Do you think I should wait for 3 months for the all clear as I've heard it can take this long to come out of my system?  I have neither the temperament or funds to spend 4 years in a Saudi prison!!!

Thanks in advance from a freaking out person.
