Bring young adult child to Netherlands

Post new topic

Hello everyone!

Hope all is well with you.
Does anyone know here  if you can still bring your 20 year old child here in NL?
I have read an article from a Dutch immigration lawyer that it is possible to bring a young adult child here in the Netherlands. Does anyone here done this?

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

Not specifically for children; a 20-year-old is not regarded as a child in the Netherlands.  I have heard of the IND permitting close family applications for those who are absolutely dependent on the applicants.  For example, because of a disability, or because of old age and importantly there is nobody in the home country to who they can turn to for assistance; you should be aware that if you go down this route, that the Dutch Social Services will check with your home country social Department to ascertain the facts of the case, they will not just take your word for it.

If you have read otherwise in an article by a lawyer, then my advice is to speak to that lawyer to take this further.

Hope this helps.
