Taxis Marron are individuals who provide taxi services however, they are not registered as taxis and don't have that yellow taxi sign/logo as official registered taxi have. They are convenient as you will normally find them near bus stop or station, they cover routes where buses don't go and they are quite cheap (this is to be taken with a pinch of salt as price of fuel has gone up).

The inconveniences are they will wait till the taxi to fill up before they go and as non registered taxi, they don't have passenger insurance, in case of accident you won't be covered... The prices should be equal to or slightly over bus fare.

As an example in my neighbourhood, Taxi Marron = Rs 20 vs Bus = Rs 18 for the same route (1.5 km) but I have 1 bus every 20 minutes and 1 taxi marron every 5-10 minutes...
