Portuguese citizenship based on DNV

Post new topic

Hi All,

I'm currently in the process of obtaining the DNV from Denmark, the long-term plan for me is to get Portuguese citizenship after 5 years. I have only one concern which is about the tax system in Portugal. I'm currently working for an international organization and considered as diplomat where my salary is exempted from taxes so was wondering if that would be an issue for me when I apply for citizenship after 5 years. Any thoughts about this?

Thanks in advance

Best regards,

Mohammed

Hi Mohammed, Welcome.

That won't be an issue. The main issue is that, in order to apply for citizenship, you have to be a legal resident in Portugal for at least 5 consecutive years, and you have to take a Portuguese language test and be successful.
