Certificate of Baggage

Post new topic

Ola! I'm confused. Do I need to have a residency permit to bring household items over with a shipping company or can I just have a D7 Visa approval only. We want to bring those items over but when I saw the Certificate of Baggage, I wasn't sure if I can bring the boxes over with the Visa approval. Has anyone done this and how? Thank you in advance.

The purpose of all of that is to exempt household moves from import tax.  Relocation shippers will tend to really pull for this, perhaps among other reasons because it's easier to get a shipment off the customs dock if they aren't going to have to value it for tax, but just to be clear.  You don't need it if you'll pay the 23% VAT.

The shipper should provide you with a reasonably detailed picture of what they'll need.  I don't recall that resident permit would be on that list, but there is a question of date of establishing residence, and an atestado de residência from your freguesia that lines up with that date.
