Some TRNC Questions

Post new topic

vincentfostel

Hi all,

I am planning to buy a property in the TRNC(Ozankoy or Lapta region) and have lived in Cyprus for two years.

Some questions I woukld relly appreciate your help with:

1) is the yellow slip(Cyprus not TRNC) for EU citizens valid indefinitely once aquired, or does it have to be renewed?

2) could i technically purchase a car in Cyprus, register it there and drive it in TRNC with the according insurance i get at the border?

3) anyone has more information about the quotas of foreignes when purchasing a property; from the information found online it is not really clear to me how that works or wether that has any real impact.

Really appreciate your help:-)

There is a dedicated forum for TRNC  it might be better to ask this question there

Do go to the other page; but quick answers to your questions:

1) is the yellow slip(Cyprus not TRNC) for EU citizens valid indefinitely once aquired, or does it have to be renewed? THERE IS NO END DATE ON THE SLIP, SO PRESUMABLY INDEFINATE BUT OFCOURSE WONT HELP YOU IN TRNC.  YOU WILL HAVE TO DO SEPERATE RESIDENCY THERE.

2) could i technically purchase a car in Cyprus, register it there and drive it in TRNC with the according insurance i get at the border?  NOT ONCE YOU HAVE RESIDENCY IN THE TRNC.  YOU RISK YOUR CAR BEING IMPOUNDED.  CARS ARE MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE IN THE NORTH AND HENCE MANY USED TO DO AS YOU ARE SUGGESTING AND THE AUTHORITIES DO OCCASIONAL PURGES AND IMPOUND CARS OF TRNC RESIDENTS WITH SOUTH PLATED CARS.

3) anyone has more information about the quotas of foreignes when purchasing a property; from the information found online it is not really clear to me how that works or wether that has any real impact. EVERYTHING IN FLUX AT THE MOMENT.  BIG ANTI FOREIGN BUYER THING GOING ON AFTER MASSES OF RUSSIANS, IRANIANS ETC HAVE BEEN BUYING HUGE AMOUNTS OF PROPERTIES. STRONGLY ADVISE TO RENT NOT BUY UNTIL THINGS SETTLE DOWN. PRICES ARE SILLY ANYWAY AT THE MOMENT
