Insurance broker in Lisbon

mozwoeld

One of our concerns about becoming a resident of Portugal is getting healthcare.  We are in our 70s, I have German citizenship but am a US citizen living in the US as is my husband.   Anyone have an insurance broker to recommend in Lisbon.  Thanks for any suggestions - I want to check what is available to us.  I do know there is the private insurance carrier MGEN.  I do not think we would be eligible for public health care.    Want to find out requirements and our options.

Every resident of Portugal is eligible for public health care (JohnnyPT correct me if I am wrong). However, I don't know whether the SNS provides what you think you need.

An alternative is an international health insurance (e.g. BUPA) or simply pay as you go (I have friends that do exactly that).

Nor sure why you'd want broker in Lisbon unless you are there and maybe speak/read Portuguese to the level of understanding medical Portuguese.     Shirly an interweb search in your home country for overseas medical insurance quotes will give a number of comparison sites etc where you can input your medical info in your own language and understand the results.  I've just done a quick search for USofA and 2nd site is a comparison site for 10 "overseas medical insurance".  If you haven't already done so then you can get travel insurance and visit Portugal for a couple of months to see if you really want to live here and where and sort out many of the details in person like if the medical facilities are available where you want to live and to the standard you demand.
