Hi,

When living in a foreign country, you have to adapt to a new environment, various cultures and different social codes.

How did you manage to adjust to Portugal?

How long does it take to feel at home? Would you say it is an easy process?

According to you, what is key for a successful integration process in Portugal?

If you have a non-Portuguese car, leave a card in your windscreen with your mobile number on it. Then if anyone needs you to move it -or the police need you to move it- they can contact you.
I did this and a nice engineer rang me to warn that they were about to sandblast the building I had parked in front of.

Adaptation to a country depends on many factors. If money is not a problem, you just move to Portugal looking for an easier life, fine. Your adaptation will depends purely on luck, the kind of people you meet. Always remember, you will be always a foreigner, but not as bad as in the US colony "an alien"!
I did not choose portugal to retire but I believe so far, it is the best place in the continent.
