Health insurance

I have been getting quotes from a lot of the bigger companies and it looks like what they offer is policies that cover you everywhere. How do I find companies that just cover you for Insurance in Portugal only? I cannot believe the monthly premiums,  $800-$1000 US per month. Those are USA  prices and I was told health care in Portugal is inexpensive. Am I being naive or is that REALLY what private policies cost there?

Here's a trick..

The big companies charge the same prices here as well, but local companies charge local prices for the same cover. Wander into a couple of hospitals as ask which companies they consider to be the best, both in terms of cover against cost and paying out without hassle.
One of the very big companies here has a terrible name with all the hospitals because the buggers never pay up on time.
