American obtaining Italian Elective Residency Visa from San Francisco

Post new topic

dinademko

Hello,

I am a US citizen, retired, living in San Francisco, wanting to obtain an Elective Residency Visa to live permanently in Italy.  The Italian Consulate Office in San Francisco is vague about the monthly income requirement needed and value of assets required to be approved for this visa. I know the income must be passive, from investments, a pension etc.  Can anyone offer me any information on the financial requirements and difficulty in obtaining this visa?

Thanks,
Dina

Were you ever able to get your elective Residency Visa from San Fran?

Youll need around 30000 USD and a property - either a act of sale  or a rental contract.   Its not specific but is 'around' 4 times the minimum.  That will depend where in Italy you want to be, obviously Lake Como is going to cost you more to live than Agrigento..

Thanks, for clarification when you say you will need “four  times the minimum” in passive income, what amount in USD is that roughly? Assuming the applicant will be renting an apartment in Tuscany? The SF Consulate guidelines are very vague?
